Who it's for

Start from anywhere.

The programme

The highlights.

Class, inside a working hotel

Study at Hotel Royal on Newton Road, surrounded by the industry you're joining.

Cairnhill leases teaching premises at the property. It does not operate the hotel, and the hotel does not deliver the programme; access is to the campus only.

An overseas immersion. Graded.

Travel with your cohort in months 2 to 4, and come back with an assessed report.

Destination, dates and the travel and accommodation arrangement are confirming, and will be published once the agreement is executed. If you cannot travel on a scheduled run you can defer to the next one, or, where the Academic and Examination Board approves it, complete an equivalent supervised local alternative against the same learning outcomes. Course completion is not affected either way.

Graduate holding a plan

A start-up plan, a service concept, a marketing plan. And the numbers behind them.

The capstone is your own primary research on one problem, presented and defended for formal assessment.

Singapore first, then the region

Learn on Singapore's market, then widen out to the region it depends on.

Destination management, cultural tourism and service innovation are taught against regional conditions: seasonality, cost bases, informal supply chains and visitors who are not all coming from the same three markets.

The seven months

Seven months, mapped.

  1. Month 1 · Live online

    The business fundamentals

You start online: how a destination competes for visitors, and how an idea becomes a business you could run.

By the end of month 1: you can explain your idea as a working business model.

  2. Months 2 to 4 · On campus and on the road

    On campus and overseas

Classes move to Newton Road, and you travel on the assessed overseas immersion. These three months follow a fixed calendar.

By the end of month 4: you have tested a service concept in a live setting.

  3. Months 5 to 7 · Live online, applied

    Your own plan

Back online for marketing channels, financial management and the capstone, all applied to your own plan.

By the end of month 7: you've presented and defended your completed plan.

The industry

An industry that needs operators.

Hospitality is growing faster than it can staff itself, and the shortage is sharpest in people who can run the commercial side.
